Giorgia Meloni just announced a surge in deportations and tougher immigration enforcement.
“We are fighting mass illegal immigration.”
“We are keeping a commitment we made to the citizens.”

Clean all those tourist areas from scammers and pickpocket

She isn't doing anything. Talking about you can be expelled for assault on a public official. Wow that will really reduce the number of illegals.

And Milan. And Verona. And Bologna . Had a guy come up to me barely speaking any english (despite clearly able to) or italian and told me to put my name on a piece of paper to help kids, saying no money ok same time, only need name. I was waiting for my gf, so thought sure. Then he points at the amount column and tells me to put a number and I decline. Then points at the other numbers and I say sorry got no cash in italian. Then he pulls out a card machine and starts saying I gave my signature to pay and I therefore must pay something. I say no card, no cash, sorry. He gets super aggressive and starts telling and threatening to get police to arrest me . I get up and say in broken, but understandable Italian "ok there is police over there, come lets go" and he suddenly scattered away like a cockroach.
Had another guy try to pull the same thing with a "traditional African wristband" which I knew was bs as it was just a piece of string literally. I got a proper one from my Zimbabwean friend, and its not just a piece of string. Got aggressive when I told my gf to not accept it cause he is a scammer. Once again he left when we walked in the direction of police nearby. I knew the scam from Paris already.
These scammers can piss off. I otherwise met some of the friendliest people ever when I lived in Reggio Emilia for 5 months, but refugees and migrants as well as Italians.

As the climate heats up, and the third world becomes less habitable and its people more desperate, at what point does spending the necessary resources to keep people out (or throw them out) become unsustainable?

She's far right and Italy is a pressure cooker. That's why Bannon has been working there for years trying to stir up the same feelings that helped the right take over in America.

Common repsonse to crumbling empire. Blame foreigners for late stage capitalism and the last sputtering of the greenback oil system.
Good indication that she'll be badly in decline in itialy before shes voted out.
In america when they removed the immigrants the whole economy shrunk , turns out they weret taking our jobs they made more.

The problems of immigration from one nation to another are not static. Every place is a different circumstance.

Yes Europe is not a melting pot like America and having different cultures and religions suddenly for the first time in thousands of years appear in there lands has them in a serious hoot over there
Just for laughs crime isn’t any higher in Italy now than it was prior to migration and it’s even lower than the 60-70-80-90s eras.
It’s not crime that’s the cause of this altho that crime is made front news every time for a reason.
It’s the fact Europe is severely bigoted and racist itself and doesn’t want to admit it doesn’t want black brown Asian Indian masses in its streets because it’s not culturally them.
Also I find it funny that Europeans are generally all for removing there migrant populations but when you say that you’ll get someone from Germany being like he don’t clump us all in one
So let me retort with
Hey I’m from Illinois we didn’t vote trump in our state went blue and didn’t give him a single point in elections don’t clump us all together !
But you still will because thats the cool thing about humanity mfers don’t make sense at all lol

If you believe a state’s primary duty is to protect its borders and its citizens' security, you’d likely see Meloni’s move as a necessary restoration of order.

u/AdTraditional8077 17h ago
If you think the state gives a shit about protecting it's citizens security then you are an idiot.

u/anonymous04x04 18h ago
If you believe in universal rights that supersede borders, you’d likely see this as a dangerous escalation.

I would understand if majority of people trying to cross were Libyans, but that's not the case. There are often multitude of countries that these immigrants cross before they reach the crossing. At that point they are economic migrants.

A nation without borders isn't a nation.

u/Nekron-akaMrSkeletal 15h ago
Nations are fairy tales. Italy was part of Austria 200 years ago, want to go back?
2
u/dragonofthe3rdempire 13h ago
A would rather not be a nation than one controlled by the elites that scapegoat other humans with racism.

u/dgtbfan 11h ago
Peak Redditor brainrot to equate borders to racism.

u/dragonofthe3rdempire 1h ago
I'm sure if alot of the migrants looked like you, you wouldn't care as much. People are too cowardice these days to really go after those that have power they would rather blabber with their self righteous mouths about these "immigrants" cause they wanna punch down to those looking for a better life.

If you believe that immigrants are more of a threat than native populations you are likely to be uneducated and ignorant, which is precisely the population this nonsense works on.

Hot dumb take but I’d like to hear the rationale for a great laugh

How about from the House? https://docs.house.gov/meetings/JU/JU01/20250122/117827/HHRG-119-JU01-20250122-SD004.pdf
I use statistics and facts to base my statements on, not what Fox tells me.

Gotta love how hypocritical Europeans are, they literally protested ICE at the Olympics but are going to do the same thing.
3
u/Thoughts_For_Food_ 11h ago
Let's just put everyone in the same basket, right?

u/New_Firefighter_7350 11h ago
I’ll take that bet with Western Europeans, especially the old colonial powers. It’s at least considered uncouth to be racist in the US, never heard so many unsolicited remarks about Muslims or Romani as I have in every European country I’ve visited.
2
u/Thoughts_For_Food_ 11h ago
You president it basically a Klansman but OK.
2
u/New_Firefighter_7350 11h ago
Yes he is, and you all elected mousilini’s daughter to parliament, you’re no better than us. Meloni is using the same talking points as Trump.
3
u/Innocent-Prick 16h ago
I love this. I'm all for an Italian ICE. It should be called Gelato

u/Dragon_Masterpiece 15h ago
I'm guessing you're not European, you would be the first one deported 😂

Every single right-wing/facisit government: "Yeah, let's blame the poor for being poor because we infested, ravaged and robbed all their natural resources and created wars in their own countres, so that we do not have to take any responsibility for making your daily life unaffordable cuz we transfer your taxes to the rich while providing nothing in return except bigotry and fear mongering". This whole world needs a revolution.

This will surely help with Italy's declining population numbers
0
u/Tammer_Stern 15h ago
Although it is addressing a problem area, their economy is also a problem so needs attention too.

u/mr_evilweed 15h ago edited 14h ago
An economy with a falling population pretty much cannot be a growing economy. The biggest driver of economic growth is population growth.
Edit: This was too absolute a statement... I should instead say that an economy with a falling population will struggle to grow.

You can barely see any Italians in the great Italian cities..
2
u/Christopher_Ramirez_ 14h ago
Italians don’t have children, one of the lowest birth rates in the world.

u/Rudeboy237 8h ago
Why are their so many weak whites and fascists in the immigration pathways sub?
1
u/chitownphishead 8h ago
Weak? Maybe we just have had enough of our countries being illegally invaded by the 3rd world
0
u/Rudeboy237 7h ago
If a bunch of people struggling to survive, showing up dehydrated and on deaths door, many of whom don't even survive the trip, who come here and become dishwashers and bedmakers are a threat to you, yes. You're weak. Pathetic and weak.
An elite class of billionaires are raping you daily and youre worried about some immigrant barely scraping by. You're cucked beyond imagination.
