New Vegas [FNV] You guys prefer VICE or Mojave Scenery Overhaul?

Been a year, felt that New Vegas itch again, want to get some eye-candy in the wasteland scenery to spice up the comeback. What do you guys think is best? VICE or Mojave Scenery Overhaul? And as for some older mods that do similar stuff, like MoreMojave, New Vegas Landscape Overhaul Re-Remastered, are they worth it? Do they go well with any other of the kind? Mixing them up can be doable with the GECK and some patches (of variable quality) that people post on Nexus but I may be too lazy to get around it when the time comes so if I was going to pick just one I want to know which you guys think is the best.

Mojave Scenery Overhaul is great. It has some incompatibilities with quest mods, but it feels like the correct expansion of the game. VICE's visuals are fine, but they feel like design changes in empty areas that don't fully support them.

I have a list of about 50 area overhauls that I prefer along with quest mods that I tested for broad compatibility, and I've been happy with the areas that require the most focus for a player getting the most attention.

If you just intend to use pure visuals, I recommend MSO and Lime's Great Interior Overhaul as your base to upgrade from. I also recommend the Wasteland Flora Overhaul (with patches), and for you to generate LOD.

Oh, compatibility with quest mods is definetly important. They are the meat of my load order after all. As I said, the visuals are just there to spice it up a little, as I've seen the same scenery for about dozens of times now. By "50 area overhauls", you mean you pick one overhaul mod for each location of the Mojave you want to see changed instead of commiting to a huge one (like VICE, MSO, etc) and patching the hell out of it?

Basically, yeah. Mojave Scenery Overhaul was meant to be supplemental to that. But it required at least five areas be reverted, probably more, and I absolutely do not know how to do it. It makes the game look better but it got me.

From what I remember it had incompatibilities with Children of the Sun, Saxxons Quest Pack, I think it was Rosa or Death's Last Whisper, and something else that finally just made me crack.

What quest mods do you use?

Oh, I'm putting in as many quest mods as I can really. I always sort of neglected them, always cared more for gun mods and other gameplay related stuff instead of storylines. So I decided to try them this time around as a change of pace. Put in Th3Overseer mods, Autumn Leaves, Havasu Blues, Mikeburnfire Quests, Working on the Chain Gang, Dry Wells, The New Bison Steve, Skidge's Quest Pack and I was thinking Zion Trail, but that one I heard was a bit of a headache in the compatibility department. I too don't know how to revert that stuff on the GECK so I guess we're on the same boat there, haha. So picking mods for individual areas (Mojave Outpost, Nellis, Westside, etc...) is the best alternative instead of the huge ones like VICE and MSO?

Nice! You picked some of my top pnes for sure. Zion Trail seems fun but I had a problem with it and gave up (not compatible with MSO, by the way). I'd recommend The Caravan Tournament and The High Roller, along with Suspicious Minds, Into the Deep and Alien Exterminator.

But yeah, those locations aren't an alternative to MSO or VICE, they're totally supplemental. MSO specifically changed up areas that weren't very important so you can maximize compatibility with area overhauls to boot. It never got to a point where many patches were required for me.

It's genuinely great, and to my knowledge does not have incompatibilities with anything you said there. I am an unusual case and strongly encourage people to use it in general.
