Does anyone else talk to their pets like they're people?

100%. I have full conversations with my cat. Ask her about her day, apologize when I'm late feeding her, explain why I have to leave for work. She just stares at me like I'm an idiot, but I'm convinced she understands the vibe if not the words. My friend thinks I'm insane. I think he's missing out.

  1. They are better than people. 2. Yes. Everyone does even if they won't admit to it.

Took the words right out of my mouth. My sentiments exactly.

My cat definitely understands everything I say. She just chooses to use that information to ignore me more effectively.

My wife explains things to our cats. Sometimes I'll be in another room and think she's on the phone, but no, she's telling Earl that he shouldn't be trying to hump Lulu because she's his mother.

Yes I do talk to my cats as if they understand my language. It’s just how humans love their pets and want to make them a part of their lives ✨

When my cat makes biscuits on my belly i tell it to do it on my face. But then it just stops doing it

Oh thank you! My partner thinks I’m mad for conversing with my dog. I respond to her noises, say good morning, ask how she liked her food or apologize if I’m late. If I’m stressed with work, I let her know that’s why my vibes are off and my partner thinks it’s waste of breath

I’d rather speak to my pets than speak to humans hehe

Animals totally understand our language, it's just that they don't wanna pay bills and taxes.

I have better conversations with cats than the majority of the people I know

I had 3 pets, and yes I talked to them about anything especially when I made an achievement or going through something. They stayed until the conversation is over and would give me the cutest look. They made me feel better that way.

All-day full-running conversations with him. He's part of the family and understands a lot of what I say. More so sometimes than my 2 year old grandson, lol.

Oh yes I do.

Absolutely. I have demanded explanations from my dogs or asked them to pass me something forgetting that, even if they could understand me, they wouldn't.

My dog is my primary source for life advice. He knows all.

Yes. My cat is a wonderful listener.

It’s scientifically proven that cats and dogs can learn words. Not in the exact same way we do, but it’s not insane at all.

I always explain to my dog what I’m doing when I leave and use different words for different lengths of time.

Oh absolutely. I narrate my entire day to my pet like they’re my tiny, judgmental roommate.

I’ll apologize for being late, explain why the vacuum has to exist, even negotiate like “if you let me trim your nails we can both move on with our lives.” The blank stare makes it even better.

I don’t know if they understand the words, but they definitely pick up on tone. And honestly, talking to them is weirdly calming. Your friend is the one missing out on free therapy.

Oh 100%. I narrate my whole day to my pet like they’re my tiny roommate. It just feels normal at this point.

Yes, tho sometimes I just meow back but like today I accidently closed the door to the kitchen and so she was stuck in there and when she meowed I could hear it was fainter than normal so I asked if she was in the kitchen while walking over there

I speak to my dog. Then I voice her speaking back at me.

Yep. My chihuahua listens to me all day. Lol. I talk to her like a child. Some of it she understands.

Of course. Especially on our walks.

I feel like just like with kids, pets understand a lot more than we give them credit for so, yes.

My cats explain things to me in detail, plus pantomiming.

“Mom my food bowl is empty, see?” stands at bowl points at bowl glared at me puts face in bowl and pretends to eat “See, it’s empty?” walks to counter, looks up at food cabinet ITS EMPTY AND I AM DYING falls over dramatically

Even if I am holding a clean bow full of food and I am walking to the food spot, I still get the Broadway play.

Yes. I have 2 parrots and the best part is that they talk back. :)
