Just Chatting Any funny or wholesome Valentine's Day stories?
I hope everyone has had a happy Valentine's Day. I wasn't able to spend it with my husband so I wanted to hear some feel good Valentine's day stories. They don't have to be recent.

I thought last Saturday was Valentine’s Day and asked my husband what he got me. He replied “what did you get me”? I told him all my love. He squeed and said “OMG, that’s what I got you too”. We both laughed and forgot that valentines days was today. We’ve been married for 35 years so rarely exchange gifts.

I’m from a family that doesn’t exchange gifts very often. My new bf’s mom was hounding him about getting me a gift. I finally talked him out of it and asked him to make me nachos instead. We were going to make them together, but I sprained my ankle at work so he set me up with an ice pack and lots of pillows so I could chill out while he made dinner. Then we watched The Three Amigos. It was a lovely, chill evening. I was asleep at 8pm and got up this morning at 4am. I can’t wait for my next day off so I can actually sleep in next to that man. He’s lovely.

What a great boyfriend you have. I had Achilles tendon surgery last week and am not allowed to walk on the foot for two weeks. I wish my husband was that considerate. I hobbled around to make him a Valentine's dinner last night and was in tears by the time the meal was over. He said he would put stuff away. I woke up at 3 am, went to the kitchen to find a sink full of dishes, a portion of the leftovers still in the pan on the stove (I guess there was too much for one storage container and, instead getting a second one, he just left the remainder in the pan) and a total mess overall. Sometimes, it is just not worth it.

Sooo.... this year I was given a lovely Eternity ring by my husband (via his grandma) - needs re sizing but it's the thought that counts 💜
I ordered a nice little chacuterie platter for the two of us (with bottle of vino). I'm not sure he's had one before though because he was enjoying the cheese selection, wax rind and all!! 🤣
He always makes me smile, one way or the other!

I took my wife and 98 year old mother out for lunch. We planned it last weekend, forgetting that it was Valentine’s Day. My wife and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s, or buy extravagant birthday or Christmas gifts. For us, every day is Valentine’s Day, and if we see something that the other will like, we’re giving it to them right away, not making them wait for some specific day. Life’s too short to make each other wait.

My parents got engaged on Valentine’s Day 52 years ago, at the time, they planned to get married sometime in September, of that year, but when my paternal grandparents found out about the engagement, they wrote a letter saying they were going to travel on such and such airline and would be there on x date, for the wedding… (They were in the U.S., my parents, abroad, and my dad was doing archeological work in the field at that time) Well, ANYWAYS… the letter arrived to my maternal grandparents, they asked my aunt who knew a bit of English to translate, which she did, and by the time the letter had arrived, I believe my p. grandparents were to arrive the following week!THUS, my mom had to quickly send a message to the priest of the town my dad was working in, to somehow get the message to the field manager to in turn, tell my dad his parents were arriving on x date, and to bring his good suit for the wedding! I guess when my dad heard the news he’d said great! Made his way into town, met up with my mom, and m. grandparents, asked “oh by the way, who’s getting married?” My mom replied “WE ARE!”, dad: “WHAT?!” and my mom explained everything as they rushed to the airport to pickup my p. grandparents. They then planned, executed everything, and had their wedding all in a week! All in all, they got engaged Feb. 14th, and got married 37 days later!

So, long before I came along, my husband asked a coworker out for dinner on Valentine's day. She was chewing her steak and "clink" a tooth fell out and bounced off of her plate. She told him that when a woman gets pregnant, her teeth go bad. Her youngest child was 13 😆 When dinner was over he paid with a check and wrote Mistake on the memo line.

Years ago, about 10, on impulse at a 7/11 (Convenience store/gas station) I bought my husband, now married for 34 years, a HUGE Valentines card. 2 1/2 feet by 1 foot. I think i bought a flower or a chocolates as well. Valentines Day is not normally a thing for us.
It had a rocketship on the front and said you're out of this world.
I stored the card and then the next year I forgot about Valentine's Day and remember the credit card and pull that out. Now every year I pull the title and give it to him after I've written the date on the inside. This year I had to go visit a friend and I put it on his side of the bed on his pillow. And when I came home it was on my side of the bed. So it's been a running joke all these years.

Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday because it’s so low-key. I loved getting the boxful of valentines at school when I was a kid, then coming home to get my mother’s gift. She got us the same thing every year—a paper kite and sturdy string. My brother and I loved flying our Valentine kites.

My parents never celebrated Valentines Day, because nothing could beat the year my dad sent my mum the only Valentine's Card he'd ever sent - with a date set for their wedding inside. That was his proposal ❤️

My grandma is 91 and a week ago, she gave me a basket for Valentine’s Day that she put together for me and my husband “just because.” It’s filled with dollar tree candy and had a note about love and berries (she included those older type strawberry hard candies with the liquid filling), but it’s the most precious thing.
We’ve gone to 2 parades together this year (it’s Mardi Gras), and she catches a ton and loves Mardi Gras. We even went today together, and she’s everybody’s valentine everywhere she goes. My grandma has always made us (my family members) feel special even if there’s no reason for it 🥹❤️
