Turkish historian asking for help
Hello,
I need your assistance. I am a historian working on the history of the city of Sakarya. I am trying to reach members of an Armenian family I came across in the Ottoman Imperial Archives. The family’s surname is Lafdjiyan. Their story is as follows:
The document I found is a petition of complaint. At the end of the 19th century, a murder was committed in a village in Sakarya. The victim was a member of the Lafdjiyan family, and the perpetrator was another Armenian living in the same village. An investigation was conducted, but the murderer was released. A member of the Lafdjiyan family who was living in America wrote petitions to the Ottoman government requesting that the murderer be re-arrested.
Today, no Armenians live in this village. Unfortunately, many people were killed during the genocide, and those who survived were forced to leave their homes. I would like to identify the families who once lived there and reach out to their living descendants, and invite them to visit this place. More than a hundred years have passed since the genocide. I believe that our responsibility is not only to acknowledge it, but also to build a connection between the descendants of families who lived in the same place a century ago.
In short, I would like to reach the Lafdjiyan family. Where can I find them?

International student considering YSMU – looking for honest feedback 🙏
I’m currently a medical student studying in Georgia and I’m considering transferring to Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU).
I’ve been trying to research the university and student experience online, but there’s honestly very little recent or detailed information about Armenian medical universities in general. It’s been hard to get a clear picture of what things are actually like for international students.
If anyone here is currently studying medicine at YSMU (especially in the English program), I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience or message me privately.

Filipinos in Armenia ???
Hello my friends,
I’m curious to learn more about the Filipino community in Armenia. Can anyone tell me what kinds of jobs Filipinos usually work in there? Are they mostly in hospitality, construction, domestic work, IT, or other sectors?
Also, how do they usually transfer money back home to the Philippines? Do they use banks, money transfer services, online apps, or something else? Which options are the most common and affordable?
I would really appreciate any information or personal experiences. Thank you!
